IT’S ALL ABOUT THE CALORIES…AND QUALITY OF THE CALORIES…OGGIES MUST CONDITION THEIR BODIES TO “NORMALIZE” AT A 30-35% REDUCED DAILY CALORIE INTAKE…YOU MUST FEED THE BODY THROUGHOUT THE DAY NATURALLY NUTRITIOUS FOODS THAT LIMIT SUGARS AND CARBOHYDRATES WHILE BRINGING QUALITY PROTEINS, FATS, AND VITAMIN-RICH VEGETABLES AND FRUITS INTO THE DIET…CALORIE RESTRICTION IS A GENERAL TERM, SO DON’T THINK THAT IT IS A PATENTED DIET…READ ON…

The Calorie Restriction Diet is more about quality, not quantity. Those following the plan get the most nutrients possible from every last bite, all the while exercising and maintaining a caloric intake that is 35 to 30% less than doctors recommend. Scientists once fed a calorie restriction diet to lab animals whose life spans were typically minimal. Results showed that the animals lived longer and were less likely to encounter disease.

First, there was diet food, then there were diet classes, and finally, dieting fads such as low carb and South Beach. Now, America meets the newest and most promising opportunity – the calorie restriction diet.

Such a name can be deceiving. Traditional restriction often focused on a magic number. People could generally eat anything, as long as they stayed under that magic calorie total each day. Joe Cordell, featured on The Oprah Show, follows the calorie restriction diet religiously. He enjoys apples, for example, but eats only the peels, as this is where he can get the most bang for his buck. Since beginning the diet seven years ago, Cordell has lost 45 pounds and, according to oprah.com, “hasn’t had a cold in seven years.” Scientists have studied Cordell, stating that his condition is paralleled to that of an athlete in his 20s.

Supporters believe that such an eating plan will flip a genetic switch and enable people to live longer. Dr, Mehmet Oz explains that, carefully restricted calories teaches the body to appreciate what it has and run more efficiently. In a sense, the human body believes that longevity would be easier than reproduction. In addition to efficiency, those who follow the plan could potentially experience improved heart rate and blood sugar, as well as decreased body fat and cholesterol.

  1. That’s an interesting concept. Portion control is definitely one of the main issues affecting fat Americans, many of whom get most of their antioxidants from coffee instead of fruits and veggies. It makes sense to think about the nutritional content of what you are eating.

However, I still think that if we got more exercise, we wouldn’t have to worry about empty calories as much. Sugar provides energy that must be burned, and can be easily burned with the right amount of activity. It’s when we don’t exercise that those calories pose such a threat.
